This week, Year 3 experienced a day at Victorian School. The morning began with each pupil paying the teacher a penny, for the privilege of coming to school for the lessons. Next, everyone's hands were inspected to make sure they were clean. Boys and girls lined up separately and sat separately in the class.
The day began with a scripture lesson, followed by writing, arithmetic and later geography.

In the afternoon, we came back to the modern day. We learned more about Victorian Bognor (it didn't become Bognor Regis until the reign of George V in 1929) We learned that the railway line came to Bognor in June 1846. This is why so many buildings are Victorian as the town grew quickly after the station opened. We also shared our Victorian lever toys with Year 2 pupils. Finally, we did Victorian PE (or Drill) . An extremely busy day!

Well done everyone.

Last week On, year 6 rounded off their WW2 topic with a visit to Tangmere Aviation Museum. During the trip, the pupils recapped knowledge of the Battle of Britain and how people were affected by it in 1940. The children got to see models of Hurricane and Spitfire planes as well as having a go at being a pilot in a simulator and also sitting in a cockpit. We all had a great time and the staff were very impressed by how knowledgeable the pupils were. ... See MoreSee Less
