Here is what they had to say about the school:

Your Greatest Overall Success:
We congratulate you on making another application and showing a fantastic commitment to maintain a positive environmental ethos
within the school and the surrounding community. Your application clearly reflects numerous positive efforts and actions to sustain
momentum in creating an awareness of global issues. We were delighted to read that your school’s promotional video for the
wastebusters campaign – ‘The Hidden Treasure Hunt was so successful. We were particularly impressed by the fact that your video was featured in the press, on TV and is being used to promote the campaign in other schools. It is practices like this that underpin your success in empowering everyone to make positive changes in the environment.
We Also Loved:
• Reading through your application we were impressed by your activities around healthy living. Your ‘Fit 4 All’ day activities
clearly got the whole school moving.
• It was wonderful to see that your children are growing a variety of produce in your vegetable beds and that is used in vegetable soup made by the children. We were particularly impressed to read that the berries grown are used to flavour ice creams and lemonade!
• We were especially excited to read about your focus on Transport. It was wonderful to see the children demonstrating a commitment to reducing transport pollution by engaging in cycling proficiency courses for both the older and younger children too. This initiative is clearly embraced by the whole school community. It was fantastic to read about your eco-rep’s assemblies to raise awareness about travel sustainability and their ‘Walk to School’ initiative to planning more walk/wheel/cycle/scoot to school days.
• Staff involvement across the school has greatly supported your whole school environmental movement. Your staff travel
survey results show a real commitment to getting on board with the school’s sustainability ethos.
• It was wonderful to read about the creative ways your children have continued to increase biodiversity around your school
and improve your school grounds. By identifying areas of improvement in your action plan you have provided your children
with opportunities to increase the number of habitats for numerous species of plants and animals. We especially loved reading the Year 2 suggestions about how to improve the school environment. Facilitating class discussions and listening to the ‘children’s voice is a brilliant way to build shared ownership in improving their school environment. Learning opportunities like this are exactly what excite children and help them build meaningful connections with nature.
• What was particularly impressive was the amount of evidence that your school has provided to showcase the enormous
amount of work that takes place. Your children’s understanding of environmental issues has clearly grown through the
wonderful presentations created and delivered by your fabulous Eco-team

Today we welcomed the Bognor Regis in Bloom judge to our school!

The judge came to see the fantastic tomatoes grown by Penguin Class and our Eco Reps as part of the Growing Competition, as well as our fruit and vegetable beds for the School Vegetable Plot Competition.

Our children had the opportunity to meet the judge, talk about their growing journey, and proudly share all the hard work they've put into the project.

Now it's time to wait until next term to find out how we did – fingers crossed!
