Year 3 had an excellent trip to Butser Ancient Farm. We explored the buildings that have been recreated to show how people lived in the past. We saw Stone Age huts, Saxon longhouses, a fabulous Celtic village and even spent time in the rebuilt Roman Villa. All of the building are based on evidence from archaeological sites across the UK and have been made with the tools that people had at the time. We even carried out an archaeological dig of our own. After lunch, we each made a copper ring to wear. Finally, we were put to work crushing chalk using hammer stones and wooden mallets. Our leader mixed the crushed chalk with hay, soil and water to make clunch. We then daubed this lovely sludge onto a building in the Celtic village to leave our mark on Butser. All of Year 3 can now say that they helped to build a building there. Tired but happy, our coach then brought us back to school in time to head home. ... See MoreSee Less

You guys were awesome. Truly lovely bunch of kids, I made some new friends (grown-ups were pretty cool too)

Well done year 3

During RSHE week, Year 3 have been learning about water and sun safety. On Wednesday, they were visited by Martin Willard from the RNLI and learnt key information on water safety. To then help deepen other’s understanding of how to keep safe, pupils in Year 3 led today’s Collective Worship. They explained the risks of being near open water and the steps that we can all take to keep ourselves and others safe. Pupils learnt about the meaning of the beach flags, sun safety and the Water Safety Code.

Last week, we were also visited by Southern Water who delivered their Coastal Rangers session. The Collective Worship focused on how we can keep coastal spaces clean, the environmental impact of our actions and further information on how we can stay safe at the beach.

Last week, members of our School Council led Collective Worship to share the successes of our sponsored event. We also welcomed Flo from the charity Stonepillow, back to the school. Flo explained how the money raised by the pupils and staff will have a positive impact on people within our community. Each month, the charity supports over 600 people.

We are pleased to announce that due to your generosity, we raised an amazing £1,013. Thank you to everyone that donated money towards this event
